There is no better way to celebrate summer and the Fourth of July than to be out in the sun and on the water with friends and family. Luckily I have a large family with lots of kids and cousins! We all went canoeing on the Little Miami River, which is a main waterway that leads into the Ohio River. Some of the nieces and nephews had never canoed before, so it is always fun watching them figure out how to do something new for the first time!
Needless to say, most of us came home soaking wet, with soggy shoes, but with a few fun stories and maybe even a frog or salamander hidden in the pocket of an inquisitive young canoer. No names being mentioned, of course, but I had to hunt up an old aquarium for our new house pet – Fred the Frog! I sure hope Fred likes his new home!
