Can you remember that first excitement you felt when you decided to start your own business?
I do. It was that “O-M-G I can’t believe I’m really going to do this” type of excitement! I was nervous, of course. But it was mixed with the excitement of pure potential! And deep inside, I could feel that the decision was the ‘right one’ and that I just ‘knew’ this was meant to be.
And so, in my blissful unawareness of the rough waters ahead, I charted my course. I trusted my intuition, my abilities, and the integrity of my mission to truly make a difference to guide me through the journey and I set sail for my island where business dreams come true!
And along the way, I started hitting choppy waters. But I didn’t mind. I knew this was part of the journey. I told myself that this would help strengthen my skills and I clung to my faith in myself, and the forces guiding me to get me through.
And soon, those choppy waters got rougher. And doubt set in, of course. And as my distant island called “business success’ felt farther away than ever before, my faith faltered, but I clung tightly to my dream.
My goals felt further away than ever before, and I hit that point where the sky felt dark, and I lost my bearings and had no idea what was keeping my tiny ship from getting to that distant shore. I never once lost faith in my skills or abilities, but I had no idea what I needed to do next to break through the storm and get back on course.
Luckily for me, I had the courage to step through my “I can’t afford it” fear to hire a business coach. Because a coach sits outside the storms raging around you, a coach can see where you are stuck and help you re-chart the course thru the storms and get you back on course. They can’t captain your boat (only you can do that), or calm the storm, but they can be the beacon on the lighthouse guiding your path to shore and teaching you how to avoid the rocks and shallow waters.
Where are you in your goal to reach your own personal Island of Business Success?
Are you in the choppy waters right after you set sail, or you out fighting the storms in the open seas? Or are you one of those that aren’t willing to even risk setting sail for that island because it feels to far off and too impossible to reach?
It different times, I’ve been in all those states. And at times in the future, I will hit open water and choppy seas again and set sail for an even larger island with even bigger dreams. The rough seas are part of the journey. The captain of any boat knows this, and accepts it as part of the package.
But you don’t have to go it alone. Without my business coach to show me the light to get through the storms, I’d still be out there thrashing around in the dark and unfriendly waters. Or… I would have taken my tattered boat back to harbor and just given up.
Are you ready to find your own personal beacon of light that can guide you to the shore of your Island of Business Success? I’ve done it both ways. And I can tell you that having a coach is the quickest and least stressful path to the Island where your Business Dreams Come True!
All it takes is your willingness to recognize that the Lighthouse adds value… and that investing in your business requires a calculated risk that pays off handsomely in the end.
